Home automation in Galgary
In a drawer in Tom and Kim Buchanan’s theatre room lies a jumble of remote controls to operate every plasma-screen TV, DVD player and VCR in the house. There are 17 clickers in there, not including the half-dozen to work the satellite television on each screen. It’s the VCR-programming nightmare magnified, every remote’s tiny buttons just waiting to frustrate the person trying to figure out what works what.
Walk into this home, though, and see how smoothly and easily a system can run when all those remotes are dumped into a forgotten drawer in the theatre room and replaced by a house-wide system of automation run from touch-screen panels.
