HomeLogic, LLC introduces the integration of four new sub-systems to its OneHome family of home management solutions, including lighting control by Lutron, home theater receivers by Integra and B & K, and Elan’s System 12 multi-room controller.

Lutron’s HomeWorks(r) and RadioRA(r) have been added to the growing list of compatible lighting controls including; OnQ/ALC, EDT, Leviton, Lightolier, PulseWorks, Simply-Automated, Vantage as well as any X-10 lighting systems. OneHome adds event and time-based control, remote access, and a simple interface to control lighting control systems while enabling integration with other in-home systems such as security, audio and video.

The new possibilities of screens on glass (remember Philip’s TV on miror) is being explored by Whirpool. HGTV recently had an episode showcasing Whirlpool’s latest concept Microwave / TV (via Trendir). The idea is that you can watch TV on the Micowave’s built-in front door screen, or if you have something cooking inside, switch to its internal camera to see how you food is shaping up.

In de uitgave van Elektro installateur van september 2005 viel mij op dat er steeds meer draadloos schakelmateriaal wordt aangeboden. Dit zijn mooie producten om domotica aan te brengen in een bestaande woning. Natuurlijk wordt je als adviseur veel gevraagd naar een oplossing voor moeilijke situaties. De meest voorkomende vraag is wel; "Hoe kan ik domotica toepassen in mijn bestaande woning?". De bewoners zijn op zoek naar een nieuw wooncomfort maar willen wel graag blijven wonen in de huidige woning. Eén van de oplossingen is Xanura een product van Holec. Hiermee worden commando’s doorgegeven via de bestaande elektrotechnische installatie. In één van de projecten van eaDHome zijn de Xanura producten gekoppeld met AMX waardoor alles lokaal en centraal geschakeld kan worden. Een ander product is bijvoorbeeld de Xcomfort van Moeller

Verder is er in deze uitgave van Elektro installateur aandacht voor de nieuwe NEN norm EN50090 en KNX speciaal voor domotica en multimedia producten. Ook het marketing concept Elux, met name voor nieuwbouw, wordt toegelicht. Een concept waarbij er rekening wordt gehouden met toekomstig meerwerk voor bijvoorbeeld de automatisering van de woning. Denkt u na over de toekomst in uw nieuwe woning let dan op "officieel Elux installateur".

Over domotica bestaan er tal van misverstanden. Vooreerst zijn er velen die menen dat domotica een statussymbool is, een teken voor de omgeving dat men in het leven ‘iets heeft bereikt’. In essentie heeft domotica daarmee niets maken. Veeleer is het een nieuwe manier van omgaan met de technische uitrusting van de woning.

Met domotica ‘dirigeert’ u de verwarming, verlichting, ventilatie, elektrische toestellen, zonwering, de bereiding van warm water, de toegangscontrole enzovoort. Dat betekent opnemen in één globaal systeem en ervoor zorgen dat alles optimaal -en zo energiezuinig mogelijk- werkt.

De voordelen liggen voor de hand. In functie van uw aanwezigheid en van wat u doet wordt elke ruimte van de woning altijd optimaal verwarmd, geventileerd en verlicht. Gevaarlijke situaties (zoals keukentoestellen die u vergeet uit te schakelen) of vervelende klussen (zoals het neerlaten van de rolluiken) worden automatisch geëlimineerd. En energie wordt uitsluitend gebruikt waar en wanneer ze nodig is, en in precies de juiste dosering.

This is difficult to understand for me. Within the domotics branche there is a lot of noise on how this ‘new’ market will grow. However if you try to find some interesting website on this subject it turns out as a great dissapointment. There are only a few websites, mostly commercial and little informative for the consumer. The ‘news’ that is displayed on these website’s is often a new product, boring for the consumer, very technical and directed to the installer. When will this market turn to the consumer instead of the installers branche?

In the US custom-install is becomming more popular. In the US there is one great advantage it is quite easy to install these products in an existing home. In Europe houses of concrete and bricks you are looking for other solutions. Xanura the product of Holec is an example of a European product that has looked at this problem. It is a system that communicates over the powerlines in your home. There should be more products like these and targeted at the consumer and not the installer otherwise a real lift off will not happen.
